You don't need a mixer, you need an audio interface. Get a basic Presonus interface and you should be set.

Go to Java Preferences in Utilities, and for the application section, drag the 32 bit preference so it is above 64 bit. Tux guitar should work if you do this :)

Have you looked into Logic much? You could use Logic for recording and your backing rig (Mainstage). All you will need is the Macbook, Logic, a basic interface and a controller of some sort.

Try some of the better earplugs you can find at the chemist, like the plastic ones. If you don't mind spending a lot of money, you can get the ones fitted to your ears.

It is pretty easy to get a program like Tuxguitar or Guitar Pro to write the drums in, save it as a MIDI file, then put it in Garageband or Logic.

I've been using my guitar amp as my laptop speaker for ages. My Cube 30X has an AUX in for ipods and stuff like that. It is the 1/8" jack. I just have a cable from the headphone jack on my laptop...

You could daisy chain multiple Presonus devices to get what you need. Get one device like the Firebox for the midi, and then just a couple of Inspire 1934 units for the instrument/mic inputs.
