Just so you know, you can switch the bypass type on the whammy dt; either true bypass or DSP bypass. So you may have it on dsp as opposed to true.

If your amp is decent enough get a (used) Green Rhino (Overdrive) to use with a dirt channel. If it isn't and replacing isn't an immediate option, get a Hardwire Tl-2 (metal distortion pedal).

MXR has a custom shop version of the phase 90 called the variphase; I believe it does what you describe.

Orbital modulator. Multi fx for just modulation (chorus, phaser, flanger), with a lot of controls. It's only shortcoming is just 2 presets though. Other than that, I'd say maybe an EQ if necessary.
