Songwriting

I'm not unhappy with my songwriting but not fully pleased, and I find myself questioning:
"Does this get better?"

Like any other thing, does it get better with time, practice and dedication?

I have a riff that counts of 29 notes, played as 16thnotes. Thing is, the accent of division sounds on the 18th. By it I mean, that it feels as it is completed on the 17th & the other phrase...

Hey guys I have an arpeggiated chord progression and the last chord holds for two more beats. So if I was in 4/4 I can add a tie to it on a small 2/4 bar or is it 6/4?
