but dont write off the G3 as even though it has amp modelling, which will provide better gain sounds.

They are cheap, designed by soldano and are great quality.

i would go for either the 22 or the 50 watt.

I have heard that the 50w is easier to control volume wise.

You could probably get a used dual rec for a reasonable price these days but I have never looked as I'm personally not a fan.

Could be the tubes. Normally the 800s have more balls than a lot of other amps. I find mine is pretty beefy running into both v30s and g12-t75s
But then again I have mullards in the pre and winged Cs...

I mostly use it when im recording just to brighten the strings up a little.
They are quite useful as they can help with playability.
