Basically watch all of Kubrick's movies, aside from his documentaries. Start with Fear And Desire and just go to Eyes Wide Shut. Spartacus is top notch for that kind of sword and sandal epic.

The Odeon in Manchester is a massive 24 screen multiplex, but still does film projection for old films. Infact, on the second floor there's a big window where you can watch the guys projecting IMAX....
