You can get a lot of the late 80s Charvels on eBay for under 500$, I don't see how it's going to be any cheaper to make one yourself.

You shouldn't need to do anything to the truss rod if you're only going up one gauge. Just adjust your trem as needed and you should be fine.

If you do need to mess with the rod, you can always look...

If the nut and posts are in good shape, see about getting a used Edge. If not, I would suggest getting an OFR kit since they include everything for the trem including new posts and a nut.

HNGD! I quite like the way the finish looks on it. Good price, too. They went for 800$ in '89, which works out to about 1350-1400$ now if it was new.

Good stuff, only ever see the black and yellow ones around me which I'm not a fan of. The are nice guitars, although I've had a bit of a falling out with ESP's necks since I got my old Jackson.

In short- OFR baseplate with cheaper zinc cast parts instead of machined steel, made in Korea

Should handle the same, only issue is that zinc can deform more readily than steel

That sucks, I was hoping to score a new gold OFR kit for under 200$. I'll have to call up L&M later since they work with the Schaller wholesaler here in Canada and might be able to order me one in.

Schaller Lockmeister

Anyone know much about these? They seem to be Schaller branded OFRs. Are there any sites or places you can order them in North America? Thomann appears to be the only website selling them.
