Understood. I'll hit the strings a bit more aggressively when I re record, though I don't expect it to make that big a difference, an RP500 I a far cry from an eleven rack. I tried cutting a bit of...

I use DAddario's 10-74 set, albeit on a 25.5'' scale.

IMO it's ******ed. The 4 central strings are stiff as hell, while the 4 outer strings, namely your low F# and B, and your high b and e, are not....

Comparison between two tones?

So I recorded (sloppily) a pair of tracks, both with same amp models and settings, no post process or mix work, same backing track, just with different cab sims.

Would be great if you guys could...

I wouldn't go beyond a 68 or a 70 on a 28.5 tbh, I find an 80 works well on a 25.5'', a 74 would be my pick for a 27. 28.5 is.....long.

I'd use an 85 for a low C# on a 30''

I can get a low F# to intonate perfectly at the 12th fret on a 25.5'' scale, I dont see why a low A or a low B shouldn't intonate fine on a 24.75?

EDIT: Admittedly, I did have to move the saddle...

I wouldnt go below an 80 for an F.

Your low F will feel a bit floppy even if you get it tension matched to the other strings, the string is so thick that it seems to sort of "bounce" when you pick...

Locally made strings?

Try Circle K strings, I've heard quite a lot of good about them.

That said, if the same strings keep snapping, you probably have a sharp saddle.
