500X isn't worth the extra cash over the 500. Personally, I wasn't too big on the effects or speaker modeling, so I returned it. Running it without cab sim into any decent sim gets pretty good...

Yea, the 7th gen Chinesies are horrible. 9th gen is great for high gain. I've got them in everything I own, except for V1, which is Mullard, Telefunken or RFT depending on amp.
