Why am I having trouble with em ?

not really sure where this should go its about a acoustic guitar so...

i play a taylor and i sing. What i have noticed is i can sing better and hit the higher notes a half step down. I wanna stay this way. Most of the songs i play are in standard tuning i just cant hit...
