a 1x12 can be louder than a 4x12 if the speaker in the 1x12 is very efficient compared to the speakers in the 4x12.

But the 4x12 will feel larger.

You mention that you have several small speakers....

I recommend the AC-15 over the Classic 30, I feel that it sounds a ton better. I owned a Classic 30 and a Classic 50 and felt that they were very highly overrated.

If it's over 1 or 2 years ago, I would change out the power tubes.

Bad power tubes have many different symptoms, this may be one of them.

To me, it doesn't look very effective to use for bass.
Not much better than the cheapest SS bass amp you can find anywhere.

Just recently though I bought a 1978 Marshall 2104 (2204 in combo), and the Classic 50 just sounds horrible...
