I've always hated the Gibson Studios. I've played some Epi LPs I've liked, and a number of "real" Gibsons, but I have never met a Studio LP I have gotten along with. You may feel differently. I would...

I didn't like the Haze's drive, but the DSL is always a classic option. Some other choices that come to mind would be Jet City and Blackstar. The H&K Switchblade is super versatile; I wasn't a big...

Why can't you stack EQs? It's pretty much the ideal solution. If not ... get a boost pedal. They make them. For this purpose. They're called boosts.

Closed back or open back? Blackstar has a pretty crappy website but I think that one is closed, and the Orange is open. That's really the main difference between them, just do a little research. The...

A guy I used to play in a band with had one, the Velocity (HSS superstrat type thing). I think they're Canadian. Very solid guitars for the price range, not cheap-feeling or sounding at all. Some use...

Blackstar HT 20 or 40, Peavey 6505 combo, Jet City 20W combo + boost (Bad Monkey is good). All would have to be used. You can't get a real tube amp (assuming that's what you're looking for) for less.

The amp should've been set to 8 ohms if they were in parallel. If he's buying another speaker to go in that cab, it should match the other speaker (16 ohms), but if they're in parallel he'd set his...

1) In my experience, Squier makes the best low price gear. You see a lot of people playing upgraded Squiers, but no one playing upgraded low-end Epiphones. If you do go for an Epiphone, the SGs are...

The piano goes much lower than you do. If you can, you should probably take the midrange, playing what your keys player does with their left hand (i.e. rhythm), whether it's the same octave or lower....

You messed up your link there, buddy.

For under $1000, the 5150/6505's a real amp that'll get you there easily, as opposed to exclusively budget amps like B52 or Bugera that you'll outgrow. FWIW,...

I can't say this is a very good idea, but do what you like. Just buy an FX loop pedal and put the "pedal" in the loop of that. People usually use these around pedals with crappy buffers to make them...

For 99% metal, go Blackstar. I'd take the 40W combo/50W head (the Club series) over the 20W Studios any day. Ideally go for the head, because the stock speakers for the HT line are kind of garbage....
