your neck pickup is usually not as loud as the bridge. your pickup could be adjusted down farther from the strings than it should be so look at that. your tone settings may also play a role in this....

Bandit's aren't half bad in a pinch. run it clean and use a distortion pedal instead of teh onboard distorton (if you need that). i used one for a while back in the 80s and got by.
