Use a full body guitar decal. I got one from Paint Your Own Guitar and it was great. If you want to put lacquer over it that is fine, I did worked great.

Oh yeah, defiantly go with the wood block first. I simply offered the bondo method as a more permanent solution. I can say the bondo did not affect the tone or sustain at all, if anything it help...

Finally Fixed My Amp Noise Issue!!!

So one of my half stacks is powered by a Bugera 6260 head. The clean and crunch channel aren't noisy at all but if you put the lead channel on, there was a massive amount of noise from the amp. ...

I have to believe that if there is a difference, it is minuscule. I made the exact same guitar twice recently, using different lacquer on each and can't tell any difference.
