Strings that old will sound incredibly dull and crappy. If you're so used to them, new strings are going to sound much, much brighter, the way they're supposed to.

Don't bother paying a tech to set the guitar up for you. It's a waste of money and few techs really know what they're doing.

You will most definitely need a new bridge with a wide intonation range....
