I have an RG270DX with that bridge. It's a cheap Ibby bridge. No stamps or model number. I swapped the saddle for actual Floyd saddle for about $20 and it's been much better since then.

I'd say gut the electronics, which is what I did to a lot of mine. Thankfully, my knobs and taps were fine. They are rather unsual as they are push/push not push/pull, which I liked. The input jack...

Nope not on this guitar at least. It's an old Ibanez Roadstar II. Plays beautifully. I usually use 52 but got a hold of this pack by accident. I was surprised they weren't too floppy too.

I normally play in D and I use 11-49 currently with no issues at all. I have used 11-52 as well with no issues. I haven't noticed any real difference in playability on this guitar between the 49 and...

The Gotoh 1996 should also fit. We swapped a Lo-TRS in a later 90s RG470 for a 1996 with no issues. Again, the studs are bigger if you want to use the Gotoh Studs. The only issue with changing studs...

I've had Bournes in one of my guitars before. Ended up replacing all of them in short order. I had issues with static when they turned right from the start. Then they started cutting out altogether....

Yeah I have to talk him into trying stainless. He's been through just about every coated string out there and doesn't like them so stainless is the next step.

If I could find them on sale I'd be willing to give them a shot just once. For me it's a non-issue, but I have a friend with the Acid Hands syndrome. He burns through strings every couple of weeks....

Okay, I've seen some talk about this being a Lo-TRS II in the 2001 RG270DX, which would make sense. A friend of mine has 470 from that time period and it had the Lo-TRS II. If that is definitely what...

That's double lock so it's not like the one on mine. I'm not really sure what it is though. The others I've seen from that time period had the model of the trem stamped on the side of the base plate.

I think the Edge III first showed up around 2003 so that probably isn't what you have. I have an earlier Korean made RG270DX. I never tried to replace the trem, which was single locking, only at the...

I've always preferred Everly B-52s and whatever magical alloy they are supposedly made from. They don't make them in my gauge anymore though so it'll be back to regular old D'Addarios when I'm out of...

How many springs are in the back and how long are they? It might just need shorter stiffer springs or more of them. No big deal as long as you have the room in the cavity.

Gotoh, Schaller, and Original Floyd are all right there with each other in quality. Original Edge from Ibanez is also top notch. That's Gotoh made as well, or it use to be at least.
