haha so i picked up my guitar just now and everything was fine... put it in drop d to make up a metalesque riff, used the whammy bar once, and one of my springs dropped out, it never happened before...

i blocked the trem, hopefully this fixes my problem :) i use the string lock method or w.e its called. Also, should i file down the three nut slots for the bottom strings since they're a larger gauge?

Yes, i was taught the string lock method or w.e its called by my local guitar tech :) i'd just rather learn how to fix these problems on my own and really KNOW my guitar, if u know what i mean.

I did not and by block you mean lock it down flat with springs, correct? I do use it occasionally for dives and chord vibrato but if it means staying in tune, it isn't necessary.
