mid level would be anywhere in the $300-700, it also depend on the manufacturer you get it from, I would be confident in saying that a Schecter costing $700 would be far better than a $700 Epiphone....

I think it does make a slight difference even when the tone knob is maxed, but it's barely noticeable at all. If you want a brighter tone it's best you change the pickups to high output pickups...
