Not being HSS. Funny enough, my guitar is an HSH, but I squeezed a single coil into the neck position. HSHS would be fun, there's enough room.

To me a 5150/6505 sounds incredibly dry. It's like the polar opposite of a super liquidy Recto. For whatever reason, that's just what my mind jumps to for "dry"

Well this works very well with one exception. The y-cable adds a bit of noise to the signal. I've tried several different combinations and I'm 100% sure the noise is coming from the y-cable.

I have no noise issues whatsoever with my Dan'o. In my experience, EQ pedal's effects are greatly diminished when they're pre-distortion.

That's what the y cable is for. On the two sided end, its connected to the R1 AND the FX send. Then the other end is connected to the FX return. Now both preamp signals will reach the power amp.
