It was, and he ran it through distortion. Harmonica mics aren't going to overload, your voice isn't more powerful than a harmonica. You will still need distortion after whatever mic you choose....

You have two options, TRS to XLR or TRS to TRS. Just buy some livewire stuff, you shouldn't need more than 5 feet - 3 will probably do it for you. They'll be like $7 each.

Yeah that's probably a standard $3 cable you can get anywhere - you probably have some for other devices and don't even realize it. That interface should work with your mac just fine.
