Surely you could have something like false timing and not mentioning the song/band, as well as claiming it is a tab for a different instrument? That way it technically wouldn't be the band's/label's...

http://www.jimdunlop.com/product/ergo-lok-strap is pretty good, not as handy as a proper strap lock, but yeah.
Also headstock isn't a hard fix, just make sure to glue and clamp it proper.

Enjoy! I don't know if you've got any experience with actives, but I like the ones in my bass. Also, you CAN use them without a battery, but the signal will be VERY low. Finally, don't leave it...

If you like the way the passive Warwick plays, go for it. The sound difference shouldn't be that big. Also swapping pickups is a lot easier than changing the way a bass feels.

Tool-wise you'd need a screwdriver and whatever files and Allen keys you'd need to set it up. Maybe a drill, if the body you got doesn't have pickguard holes or whatever.
