It's a cheaper solution than buying one of those midi pickups like the Roland GK-3

Just a tip, I find writing the drums in Guitar Pro a lot easier than using the piano roll or sequencers as well.

What I do is write out drum parts in Guitar Pro then export that to a midi and import...

Also on the top bar with the buttons you should see a little drop down box with a 100%. You can change that to zoom in and make everything on the page bigger.
