In the 70s a lot of stuff was quite dry, not a ton of reverb used on most sources.

Most of the time reverb was either chamber or plate.

I played guitar throughout middle and high school...

I played guitar throughout middle and high school (I'm now at Berklee), and I managed to hold a good GPA throughout and got accepted into all 6 colleges I applied to.

yeah, at the $1000 price point, anything other than Ibanez Prestiges or used ESP Standards/E-IIs is a little silly. Don't spend a grand on a Korean guitar.

The Rosso Corsa I played was pretty nice, though.

They're not bad at all. They're not nearly as hot as EMGs (as such, they sound better :p: ) but they're more or less equivalent to the Duncans in the Schecter.
