I own a mesa F30 and the cleans are the best thing about that amp. Seriously fantastic.

I'd probably buy a late 50's bassman over it given the choice though...

I disagree, tube amps don't need to be cranked to get a good sound. They definitely open up and sound better as you turn the volume up from min, but that doesn't mean the volume needs to be maxed....

Tool's early stuff was a marshall of some kind I believe. He's also used a dual rec a fair bit and a bogner uberschall on some 10,000 day tracks. The VH4 is definitely a central part of his rig too...

For soloing I tend to have the feedback at max, and just sweep the entire range of the the time knob. Set mix to taste. it doesn't need to be precise quarter...

Main problem is that benzos are pretty addictive.

I also kind of recommend pot. But it certainly doesn't help everybody.
