I've had both, I can certainly say that after getting my LP standard I never played the EC1000 anymore and in fact just sold it the other day. The 60's neck on the standard felt a lot better to me...

70 seems a bit excessive. I use 10-52 in Eb with no problems, both my Gibson and My LTD. I would say you will definitely have to widen the nut and maybe even the saddle slot to accommodate that thick...

I play Eb standard and Drop Db (c#) on a Gibson Les Paul (so shorter scale) with Dunlop 10-52's with minimal to zero buzzing. You probably really do just need a setup.
