Depends on the tone you want really. The TS basically boost the **** out of your signal & pushes certain frequencies. Set in the basic Level 10, Gain 0, Tone 5 settings it really helps...

I'd ideally go look at a VOX AC30 or a Fender combo, but even used these are going to be out your budget.
A used Peavey Windsor would be a good shout. It's dark, tubed & can easily get those sounds...

First check all the preamp tubes are fully inserted into the amp & not loose.

Have you got any spare tubes? Try changing, then replacing each tube. It's probably the V1 (nearest the input)

Try putting it infront on your amp & make an 'n' shape IE push the mids. Creates a great solo boost.

Try sticking it in your FX loop...
