18" truss rod is pretty standard for electrics. 20" will probably be too long for a 25.5" scale fretboard, or cutting it close.

The fret slots should be just a hair deeper than the bottom of the tang.
You also want it to bite into the slot sideways, or else it will pop back out.

Why 25 or 26 frets? That is a random number.

I disagree about the amp thing. I play through a MG50fx, and i get pretty dang good tone out of it... ESPECIALLY with EMGs. Go for the emg 81/60 set man. You wont regret it.

It shouldnt have burned them out. I have one of my main guitars wired that way, but without the 3rd clip to joint them together. It shouldnt have a negative affect.

It isnt the locking nut that makes string changes a pain, it is the floating trem. Dont base your whole purchase on a locking nut. They do their job just fine.

Well what needs to be improved regarding steel frets? The are the hardest, smoothest material available. You cant ask for more than that. I just dont see a single need to try to improve the best.
