The springs keep the overall tension equalized, so when you bend one string, the rest go a little flat. That's the nature of the beast. If you never want to use the trem, just block it.

Tons of cheap Ibanez Prestiges out there. If you don't mind a few chips in the paint, you can easily find RG1570 or RG550/570 for under $500. I've seen mint rga121's go for that as well.

Basically you can use the virtual loop in the POD to either use a model (bypassing the amp's preamp) or the preamp itself.
