Since we're somewhat on the subject of the QR's cleans, FWIW I find that a 12at7 in V1 (or 5751 for that matter) greatly improves the quality of the clean channel, without affecting the OD channel.... |

JJs are great tubes, but as good as they sound, they can't quite match up to the classic Mullards, Amperexes, Telefunkens, RCAs, etc etc. Of course, you can sink tons of cash into those brands... |

JJ are the stock answer here, and for good reason. They're great-sounding, well-made tubes by modern standards. They're dark sounding, whereas Tung-Sols are usually pretty bright. |
