A Lone Star doesn't do metal. Well, it probably does with a pedal, but I never would've kept mine for metal (and I didn't keep it partly for that reason).

That was probably a panning automation on the record, or if it was live, a stereo modulation effect of some sorts.

Do not get a TSL, honestly. The other guitarist in my previous band had one and you can barely get a decent sound out of the third channel. You'd be better off buying a DSL and a drive pedal then...

You're comparing apples and oranges, Gab.
The TH30 is an entirely different beast than the AC30. There's not even much overlap on them, imo. Either one is ill-fitting, I presume, given that they're...

Solid suggestion here! :)

What about ENGL? They have a ton of amplifiers with 2 channels that also have 2 modes. Tons of gain and the cleans are great imo.

Well, they're not as popular as their quality deserves, in my opinion. Bringing in a guitar gear freak like Mayer who's also a well-loved guitar player might be a strong move commercially.

I'd see Deusenberg do it, to be honest. He has been playing them a lot both live and in studio and they could use him as a marketing tool. Great guitars, also.

I'm gonna go with the Vypyr (Tube) suggestion. The Tube if possible, but if not, that's your best option in my opinion. To keep it cheap, that is.

Not only jazz, just cleaner stuff in general. Not that I usually care, but I'd rather play alternative music on a 335 7 string than I do on my Ibanez superstrat now. :P

From my understanding, they have killer cleans with loads of headroom and great dirt channels that get gnarly without losing definition.

I disagree. With the addition of an EQ pedal and a tubescreamer-type pedal, there's not a lot it won't do, in my opinion. It'll never get as clean as a Fender, for instance, but that's not what...

It's indeed an ES-175, unless I'm missing something and it's a slight variation. Totally different to a 335.

Lovely guitar though. Not sure why some one would have it collect dust. Enjoy it! :)
