^I've been using a 25W Weller for those things for years. It doesn't quite have the power to solder to pot casings; so I think 40W will be just right.

My Mark IIA weighs 30kg. That's with a EVM12L in there though, one of the heaviest speakers you'll find. I use it a lot for cleans, but it will do your over-distorted noise****s too.
