Go with the modeller, especially for teaching. I've always liked the Vox VT series, but you really can't go wrong with the cube/vypyr/mustang either.

Why multi effects as opposed to individual pedals? It wouldn't be that expensive to add a few additional pedals, would probably cost the same as a decent MFX unit would.

Doesn't the HT-5 have an Mp3/Aux in? You could just plug your laptop right into that if it does. Probably won't sound the greatest, but neither will cheap speakers.
