24 over here in the States; can't say I'm too pleased either. A bit too warm for it to be good weather, but not warm enough to grab a case and head to the lake. First world problem for sure.

Elixirs are pretty good and will last a long time, but are also really bright. Personally, I use D'Addario 80-20 .12s because they have a nice balance to them (i.e. comparable bass, mid, and highs)....

I don't have a way to measure humidity at either place (I'd get a hygrometer, but money's pretty tight--also why I haven't gotten a humidifier). It swings from around 20% RH in winter to around 80%...

Good decision mate. As far as beginner guitars go, Laguna is definitely a solid choice. You'll want to get a new amp in a couple years (once you outgrow the Spyder), but the LE122 is a great guitar.
