So I've been using DAddario's Exl 140-8 string set, and im frankly fed up with it. The middle strings have a tension of 27lbs, while the thinnest and thickest strings have tensions as low as 16,...

That said, if the same strings keep snapping, you probably have a sharp saddle.

I love thick strings. Couldnt stand anything smaller than a 54 for my 6th when I used to own a 6 in drop A#, now I use a 74 for my low F#. I'd prefer to go 80, but can't find them anywhere...

Sennheissers are usually good, the HD205II is about USD70 I think, quite nice for the money, more or less flattish, bass is strong but controlled, mild upper mid spike, very clear sounding.
