It's the way I've always done it. I go for a powerful but dull sound, I don't really like toms ringing out. The tape on the snare is to stop the high-pitched ringing. I tune my snares pretty high and the rest of the band don't like the whole piccolo sound, unless of course I'm actually using my piccolo

I say go for it if you're just going to be riding on it

Edit: Talking of cracked crashes...

Any interesting ideas I could use this for? I could cut it into a bell, but I've already got one. Plus, I can always do something else with it, and if the result is bad then I've still got the option of cutting it down to a bell. Last cymbal I cut down I made into a Rocktagon. Terrible idea, sounds awful

Ignore my hair please -_-

Had a few deliveries in the past week, now got a Remo Emperor X head on my snare, a bunch of Hearos, and this from ebay:

Got it for 175 including postage, no cracks or damage, plays like a dream. RRP: 350. Not quite as good a deal as Niko's K Custom Crash, but it's pretty close and I'm real happy with it

^That's a sweet setup, for mounting the toms did you just flip the L-rod arm upside down then put it in the clamp? Don't think I've ever seen that before... any reason?

Thanks bud. No particular reason, I just wanted all my toms on the same level as the snare, doing it that way allows me to get them lower. Although, I did recently raise my cymbals, so I do have room to flip it to the normal side... I'm too just lazy to fix it. Haha.

I've always had to do that for my floor tom on my studio kit. I assumed it was pretty common

Wow, how much for that cymbal? I'd love to have one, but I'd end up just staring at it and not wanting to play it and risk damaging it haha

146 of Ebay new, couldn't say no to that, haha. I've been beating on it all day and minus a few fingerprints it has so far retained optimal shineyness, the most important part of course

Here is a picture of it on with my current set up, although its not particularly clear.

I'm trying to go for the 'less is more' thing but I have 2 spare rack toms and a floor tom if I ever need it, but I'm really digging the 1 up 1 down toms. Definitely would like a few more cymbals though.

While which sound is best is a matter of preference, as far as aesthetics go I gotta say Meinl's higher end stuff is the classiest looking shit... SO jelly right now

Tama Rockstar Custom with Roland V-Drums. All Sabian cymbals, of which the only real notable ones are the hats. They are non-production 'prototype' hats which were sold to me at a Sabian showing here in Toronto by Mark Love himself. They sound just amazing and there are only three pairs of these hats in the world (at the time I bought them anyways), one of which is in the Sabian vault should they ever decide to put them into production. You did say I could brag right?

Small set up I used in my room while going to university:

Big set up I used in my parents basement while still in highschool:

Because I've been playing such a small set these days, I don't even know what I would do with all those drums....

I am stuck using the V-Drums now-a-days because I live in an apartment. But I did buy this a couple weeks ago:

Thats a lovely kit, are the electric pads mainly for samples and such? Also was wondering what series Black Panther snare it was and how you rate it?

Yeah, samples, sound effects, hand drums, and such. Also as a dead pad for silent time keeping.

It's a Black Widow:
14"x5"
5.1mm Maple shell

I love it. I've never found a snare drum that is easier and quicker to tune properly than this one. The rim was a bit awkward at first, but it does seem to save sticks. Picked it up after jamming on one a few times in the store.

Here it is, check out how low my setup is! And I always have the option of going lower too

And ofcourse, new gear in the form of my new hi hats which is a combination of a 13" Zildjian K custom dark hat top and a 13" Zildjian Z custom dyno beat hi hat bottom.
AND that little crash is my new A custom 14"crash, can't remember whether or not it was a fast or studio crash or not.

And I was recently doing a studio session and thought I'd take a snapshot for some reason. Oh, and check out the eagle on the wall
