Unlimited Challenge 2012- Ibanez RG Prototype
I decided to start another build and build three necks at once. For those who haven't seen my first challenge build, you can see it here. This will be a lot easier shape to work with and will just have a custom paint job and maybe a few other changes. here's what i have:
i started cutting the body out today so i will hopefully have that done soon. here are some specs: Body: Poplar Bridge: Floyd Electronics: 1 Volume, 1 Tone, 1 3-Way Toggle Pickups: haven't decided but there will be 2 humbuckers If you are wondering if i will keep doing the squid, the answer is yes. I need to neaten it up, stain it then do the necks. I will be doing another build along with this one soon. ![]()

That's a pretty funky paint job you've got planned, good to see something a bit different though. What's that inlay I see at the twelfth fret?
Also, I'll add a link to this thread in the build challenge - good luck man.

same here.
Here are updates for those who are wondering where they are. i've been busy last week so i didn't have much time to work on this but i got around to finish 1 of 2 blanks. the second has the rough cut. i will also need to puddy because of little chips that the router took off. so here are the blanks: ![]()

you guys got lucky! here's some pics of the routs. btw, got the bridge pickup done this afternoon. so know i need to do the control cavity and floyd rose routs. without further ado:
with a neck in: the template i made curves in slightly making it a tight fit. but something went wrong so there is a slight gap that i need to fill right here: thats all for now! any ideas to fill that gap i would be glad to hear! ![]()

It'd probably be best to use some wood leftover from the body cut scraps and make a shim, then glue it in place. You're painting it, so no one will know any better. Looking good so far!

Looks good man. Every build you do seems to come out that much tidier - keep it up.
