I always thought they were quite a bit more hardcorey than most other bands grouped in with them, especially in the earlier days. Thrash/"Melodic" metal they aint though.

As I Lay Dying are a metalcore band with thrash influences. Not a thrash band. That is all.

Super thread bump. The new song didn't do that much for me. Had a lackluster chorus, and for a band that basically trademarked the metalcore + clean singing chorus' in the early 2000's, it was disappointing. Hope the rest of the album is better.

Having just heard the new song, I gotta agree. It was dull. The chorus felt very lackluster, the leads weren't particularly interesting, and the guitar riffs were very meh.
I'm gonna go listen to Wrath Upon Ourselves and think happy thoughts for a little while.
