I found out about that when I was rewatching that awful Mario Bros film a while ago.

a few weeks ago i was quoting his lines from Blue Velvet and happened to see something on Yahoo news about his death.

i yelled to everyone in the room "holy shit! did you hear Dennis Hopper died?"

they were like "Dude, he died like 2 years ago. where have you been."

Not that I'm a Tarantino fan but I thought Inglorious Basterds was an awful movie saved only by the brief magnificence of Michael Fassbender.

I'm hardly an authority on Hitchcock, but my favourites include (in no particular order):
Rear Window
Vertigo
Notorious
Shadow of a Doubt
Strangers on a Train

I guess they'd all be described as "the big ones" though.

I've got Lifeboat and Saboteur on my "to watch list" but don't know when I'll get round to it.

A lot of people tell me that. I have no idea why, I know it's not nearly as good as other Tarantino movies, but there's just something about it that I really love. It's one of the Tarantino films I've re-watched the most. Maybe it's just my crush on Mélanie Laurent or my love for Fassbender or just the "say auf wiedersehen to your nazi balls!" or something. I really like that movie.

Did NOT have to post that, man. I could've easily lived the rest of my life thinking he's still alive.

..... How in the holy name of female ejaculation did you guys not know Dennis Hopper had died?

The day he died I knew and was most upset about it. It was a painful way to go: Slow death during his divorce with his crazy bitch of an ex wife. It was on the news constantly because it was a big divorce and everyone, including he, knew he was dying (he was too ill to even get chemo therapy). It was a slow shitty process but he seemed happy to 1) be free of his wife 2) be awarded (he was given awards like a star on the walk of fame, you do NOT want to see how he looked during the ceremony =[). It was just really sad.

Don't know if this was posted; it's a trailer for a new Die Hard movie. I didn't even know they were making another one nor do I really care because personally I thought all the movies (except maybe the first one) were shite.

EDIT: At Bruce Wilis' face on that screenshot. I didn't know UG supported embedding wtf.

Oh yeah. A lot of Malick and Kubrick influence in that movie. You can tell it's Noe's tribute to film makers with a high sense of artistic vision.

I like it a lot too.

It's one of those fun movies that I enjoy. It's my Avengers.

Yeah, prostate cancer. Apparently he weighed something like 50 kilos during the divorce, that's terrible. I actually feel bad for not knowing.

The scenes with the siblings together struck me as really 'Malickian' the meandering camera and Bach really reminded me of Malick. It's a really beautiful film, every time I see it, it feels less shallow each time. Wish that I had made it.

Went to a screening of Vertigo at the old downtown movie theater last night. The second Hitchcock movie I've seen, and the second time his movie supposedly had something supernatural going on, only to turn out to be some sort of scheme, leaving me disappointed that it didn't stick with the supernatural concept. Still an entertaining movie though.

Both are great, but you really have to be in the right mood for most Von Trier movies. True Romance you can kind of throw on at any time and get something out of it.

Yeah, especially that Antichrist.

But Von Trier's definitely one of those directors that I need to watch more from.

So I've got nothing to do tonight so I'm going to watch 50/50, Funny People, and uh, whatever's on TV. Oh, and I might re-watch American History X later tonight. I hope at least one of those movies aren't completely terrible.
