I just found out my school has a campus wide subscription to the Naxos Music Library. No more going to Youtube for middle aged men playing classical guitar!
EDIT: There's Bach on banjo...

Is there some way to indicate that the player should hold the note until it fades away in piano music? Without saying like, 'hold until silent' or something.

^ I've seen sheet music that has a whole note tied over a couple measures, but I have no idea if that's how it's actually done

Went to a Jojo Mayer clinic last night. Felt slightly out of place with lack of drool and a total lack of drummer face - but I got over it. That man is frikking brilliant. One of the scariest things was watching him play single bass pedal at a speed most double bass pedal players would be super envious of (except for that nile guy, obviously).
One comment he made that was quite classic and true - "Playing jazz to a metronome is like eating sushi with a fork. You just don't do it" I did get some interesting counting tips too - although I did get lost when he went into drummerspeak. Their own language - who'd have thought it possible ![]() |

Jo jo is one of my favourite drummers. Personally I really enjoy attending drum clinics, rhythm is the most important element of music (for me at least >.> ) and they're the experts. <3

^Yeah, agreed. I only saw him once prior to last night but on a "drum and bass day" dvd. He blew my mind then already but actually seeing him do the shit in person, unfknblvbl. I agree with the rhythm aspect too - while he was playing I was picturing sounds in my head that would match/counter the current groove. He had a problem with our altitude though - he spent the majority of the clinic clearing his throat and coughing. Weird... he must have had some malawi or durban poison before the show

![]() There was an Aaron Spears clinic at one of my music schools on Sunday but I couldn't be arsed making the round trip for it. ![]() One time Alex Hutchings did an all-day clinic/demo for Roland at work... and 3 students no-showed. I got paid to watch Alex Hutchings for 90 minutes. ![]() |
