I agree. I think birth control more suits what you're saying.

No woman wants an excuse for a dead fetus to come out of her vagina on a regular basis.

For real. I always associated that argument with out-of-touch hyperconservatives. Like, who the hell would actually use abortions as a means of birth control when there are plenty of other much more reasonable alternatives? I don't know how much abortions cost but I feel pretty safe assuming condoms are cheaper, and I would also imagine that an abortion isn't the kind of ordeal a woman would want to go through more than once.

$300$950 in the first trimester according to Planned Parenthood, but yes you are right.

I don't think internet forums are the place for getting representative sample sizes.

unless he just wants to represent pit monkeys. like if the assignment is to poll a specific group of people.

anyway, i've heard that surgical abortions are a very scary experience. not necessarily painful, since i know local anesthetics are used, but the whole procedure is uncomfortable.

as far as abortions via pill, i just looked up the side effects real quick and didn't see anything too drastic, but it doesn't look like a walk in the park either.

so, as far as getting numerous abortions go, i'd figure contreceptives would be prefered by 99% of people. we just need to make sure women are well educated on their options (men too, but since women are the ones that face the physical burden, their education is most important).

still waiting around for male birth control.

Funny how a lot of the people who claim to be pro equal rights and all are the first to condemn someone for having a different opinion.

Because condemning someone and taking away their rights are totally the same thing.

You're right, it's not. That's not really what I meant to say.

I just thought I'd point out that a lot of the kids on here who claim all these liberal beliefs are also some of the same ones who jump all over people's backs because they have a differing opinion. Isn't being liberal all about everyone being tolerant of other ideals and whatnot?

Different opinions are cool. Stupid, uneducated opinions that are forced on all of us are not.

In other words, being liberal doesn't mean accepting any shit brained idea that comes across your desk.

Liberals do believe in equal opportunity for opinion for everyone, which is why we support the opportunity for stupid people to have stupid opinions and for smart people to have the opinion that stupid peoples' opinions are indeed stupid.

Pragmatically speaking, we just don't need any more people in the world. Especially unwanted people.

This view doesn't hold much ground though. An appeal to rights is much stronger.

I'm against abortion. There are many ways to handle an accidental/unwanted pregnancy. Put it up for adoption, grow up, do whatever you need to do to ensure that you don't snuff out a life before it has a chance to begin. Easier said than done for a lot of people, but

The only place I think it has any real justification is in cases where it's known that the child will be severely disabled, or the mother giving birth could be threatening to her life, or the child's.

Adoption is not valid option at all really. There are already far too many children who need to be adopted and not enough homes to take them in. If everyone who gets abortions were to give their kids up for adoption instead it would cripple the system overnight.

A guy tried that once, in Romania.

But at least his life had a chance to begin right?

Don't think people should be allowed to abort a baby just because they didn't use protection.

If they can prove that the baby would have a poor standard of living, or that the mother would be negatively affected by the child birth (in more ways than just that a 17 year old slut couldn't go clubbing anymore =P) then I think it should be okay to abort.
