Makes sense, some of their old material is quite good. Still pales in comparison to the bands they rip off/sound like, though. |

Not me..... I'm a "roots" music kind of guy. I have a list of perhaps a couple of dozen artists and groups that have been producing quality stuff for many years, and continue to do so.
Guys like Tom Russell and Dave Alvin and James McMurtry.... They have all been putting out great material, and I wait for each new album. Pandora keeps putting up new stuff I like. Just within the last few years, I've found all sorts of new artists and material to add to my list. |

Ah fair enough. You mentioned Steven Wilson though, it wouldn't surprise me if Muse took a lot of their ideas from Porcupine Tree. |

Yes. I used to just listen to metal all the time, but I've gotten extremely bored of it so I've recently started listening to game soundtracks and Orchestrated music (I think that's what it is) although not much of it. I just need to find more artists......

I feel the same way. Fortunately, I have yet to get all the jazz CDs I want, so that should last me about a year. After that...I don't know. Here's a cool band I found this year. They aren't really that new though.

It's more like music I am in the mood for is hard to find. I kinda hate loud music unless I'm playing it.

Nope. Nobody else has ever struggled to find music they like in the history of mankind. Nobody else knows that feel, bro.
But yeah, I have a lot of trouble finding any music I like. I only really like 5 or so bands, and most of them stopped making music by the end of the last century, unfortunately. I've started to think that maybe I just don't like music that much. |

i'm pretty sure an inability to enjoy music when you used to is a sign of having the blues (i.e. you need a lay, mang)

Yea, I kind of get you.
I see people on here that listen to soooo many bands, and listen to like dozens and dozens of new albums every year. I can't do that. I just don't like 95% of the bands I here. It's not like I only listen to one genre either. I like stuff from a bunch of genres, but not many bands "click" with me. |

No. If anything I have too much and I feel like I never spend enough time fully enthralled in certain ones. But I still want more.

From a personal stand point if it's not one of my favorite bands already I just don't want to listen to it. Periphery II was excellent. Parallax II was amazing. The Contortionist's new album was great. I think I will like After the Burial's new record when that comes out. But if it is some unknown band making sub par music then I really don't want to hear it. I'm a little burned out when it comes to all these copy cat bands being thrown at me. So when it comes time to listen to something new it better stand out.
