so... new power tubes...
so i gotta grab some new power tubes for my JVM410h.
currently im running JJ EL34s and im pretty happy with them. I play mostly Djent, Prog, and metal, but i do dabble in jazz and blues and most stuff in between. Budget is around £70. I dont really wanna splash out on NOS tubes. i have been looking into JJ E34Ls for the tighter bottom end. Is there any actual difference between the standard and the blue ones? Any other suggestions? Cheers guys.

Free bump until cath gets here
Tubedepot says 34Ls have tight low end. I believe Tubedepot. But they are a website trying to cash in on my hard earned money. Soo wait for cath, or a few of the other tube experienced guys |

Cheers dude.
I was primarily waiting for him as he helped a lot with my preamp section a few months back.

My experience is that you can't go wrong with JJs. Cost/reliability/tone, it's got them all (well, NOT cost, but that's the point).

Yep, E34L have more bass IIRC! Now, difference between the blue and the other ones I do not have a clue.

^ Correct, the E34L is a bit punchier in the low end than a regular EL34 and just bigger overall, and it has a slightly higher plate voltage handling.
As for the Blue glass tubes, there is no difference. The glass has been colored, but nothing internally is different. It's for aesthetics.

What they said. ^
The L's are just bigger. Bigger, beefier, can take more shit, just better. However, if you are primarily diming your amp for power tube distortion for blues the normal ones would be better and you'd be looking for soft ones too; in other words - crap. If you are getting your distortion primarily from the preamp gain, get the EL34L's. Just a normal matched set of JJ EL34L's. Afaik know the blue glass is more snake oil like gold pins. That said. If you can afford them buy SED =C= EL34 tubes. Those things were made to withstand a MIG jet pulling 3G. They're brilliant, but expensive. http://www.tubedepot.com/sv-el34.html

Thanks guys.
Unfortunately I can't afford the =C='s at the moment. Hopefully once I get a better job.... I'll order some E34Ls now.
