And h pylori isn't a huge issue in countries with a well developed water treatment system. Not that h pylori survives particularly long outside of an acidic environment. Or when introduced to ozone or UV, which is what happens in the UK. Of that 68%, 25%-50% of them harbour h pylori with it doing absolute sweet f.a. to them. Same with c botulinum, MRSA, c difficile and others.

I drink from the tap, I have some of the best tap water I've had in my house.
I have a few metal reusable bottles, I just fill them up with tap water and take them whenever I don't have access to a tap.

...I'll allow it.

Although like someone just said, buy something like a plastic sports bottle, they're sturdier and have those sport caps which is convenient.

tap. healthier and safer in most of the US. except where people's water explodes and has poison in it.

but in most instances, tap is better since its regulated by the EPA and bottled is regulated by the FDA. the latter has more lax standards. for example, the FDA allows up to a certain amount of fecal matter in water. EPA's like ... feces? O_o

but then again some people's tap water explodes.

when you continuously reuse a plastic bottle chemicals seep into the water. it's best to have a reusable aluminum/steel/whatever bottle. keeps it colder too.

Yup. The EPA and FDA will both test for what's called coliform bacteria- they're easy to test for in large batches. Presence of these species indicate the presence of faeces and other contaminants, but this doesn't mean that the sample definately contains other bacteria, but that's enough for the EPA to go 'narp.'

My parents do, but I don't blame them. The region they live in has a suspiciously high cancer rate. They can't do anything about the air, but if they want to drink water from somewhere else I don't blame then. The bottle I'm drinking is probably just tap water from TN. But better than here.

Yes. Reusing them causes the plastic to break down a bit, and it causes the BPA to get into your water.

Buy a reusable water bottle. I have a stainless steel bottle (better than aluminum, because aluminum is typically coated with chemicals on the inside to keep it from rusting), and it's great.

What's wrong with a sports bottle? Surely lighter than steel.

I think I'll be alright. I don't use those bottles forever.

I was about to say. Secondary school chemistry ftw!

Plus, stainless steel sometimes rusts too, slowly, so even this steel bottle might have the coating.

Yes, also exposure to sunlight speeds up the process.
