That sounds like the symptoms of using amp sims without any cab impulses, something that I noticed it seemed to be lacking in your mix as well. Are you using an impulse loader? In LeCab I find the inbuilt highpass and lowpass filters can make it sound much more realistic and can get rid of some of those harsh sounds associated with virtual amps. |

That makes sense, I've always used PodFarm, it has the cab built in so I didn't realized Legion needed an impulse. Thanks
![]() About my mix I had an impulse, do you think there's too much high-mids? |

Yeah, most good amp sims require a separate impulse. And even if they don't you'd be surprised at the difference it can make to disable the inbuilt one and use a separate one. I only use inbuilts for the occasional times I use Amplitube SVT for bass, and that's only because I don't have the equipment to get a good bass one and cant find any online.
I don't know it just sounded off, like when I started out and wasn't using impulses. Maybe it's just pod farm (I've never particularly liked it). |

Some nice mixes in here guys.
I'll be taking a stab at this tonight for sure, I have a setup I've been jizzing over recently (combination of LePou Lextac and Lecto sims with Catharsis/Recabinet impulses) so be great to see how it sounds in a proper mix. |

@Shornifier your new mix sounds really good now, the drums are more prominent and giving the mix more power. The kick drum is kinda sticking out a bit too much though as with my first attempt too. Overall its sounding really good man

@SHaun : many thanks for sharing this, this will sure help me a lot
![]() @shatterbox : I have some good sounding presets for when I play but they were unusable for this :/ I equalized the guitars a lot, cause the sound from PodFarm sounded so weak, but I admit I didn't spend much time on the amp & cab settings. |

No probs Whiskas. Are you using the metal addon for pod farm? The diamond plate recto sim is pretty decent you should try it with the guitarhacks IR's as they are quite aggressive sounding when combined. It's just a personal opinion but id go with Kefir as your IR loader for some reason i dunno why it just sounds way better than Lecab 1&2 no offence meant to Alain Lepou as his amps are stunning.

Thanks much; I really do love a loud kick drum... I don't mean to ask again, but quite curious about the re-amping everyone's been doing. What are you using? All the plug-ins on your screen shots are unfamiliar to me. Looking forward to an update. Raised my eyebrows with the kick sound you came up with on your first mix - loved the thud!

Nope I don't have them yet, but I plan to buy them as soon as I have some money.
Thanks for the links and taking the time to explain everything ![]() Btw, does someone knows of any good free plugin for drum processing? |

Here's a little update to my mix again. I put Alu's from Ignite amps new EQ plug on the master bus to attenuate some of the lows and bring out some highs. If you dont have any of Alu's stuff here is the link it all freeware lots of goodies to be had.

This is my favorite so far, though the vocals sound kinda funny. Too much verb/delay perhaps... or maybe just need to be lowered in volume a tad, so it's not so upfront. Gonna try reamping this through my Kemper and/or 5150 sometime today ![]() Quote:
You went a little hard on the master comp/limiter, there's a lot of audible pumping. I like what you did with the vocals, though. Little too excited on the high end, though IMO.

I'm gonna take another look at this later cuz I need to thicken up those guitars (need a saturation plug of some kind and a panable delay) and get the lowend/guitar balance right, but here's mine so far, without vox.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19504966/FirstMix%282%29.mp3 I should probably master it properly too, just using a tweaked preset atm. I am damn pleased with my bass tone though... it sounds bad ass. Edit: And here's a mix with some widening and the lowend of the bass turned down. It sounds less muddy but just too weak in my eyes. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19504966/WiderMix.mp3 Edit: And here's another later version... I think it's the best one so i'm gonna stop screwing with it for a bit. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19504966/Mix2%284%29.mp3

Well, as much as I want to join in this, Pro Tools is being a hoe and doesn't want to upconvert the sample rate of the raw tracks up to 96khz. Oh well, life moves on. I'll give it a shot in a couple days.

@Chemical fire that's a great sounding mix buddy I'm really like the guitar tones. In the third version you blended the bass and guitars much better, both sounding really solid. I would like to hear your mix with the vocal tracks the Matrix claw uploaded. Sounding pretty massive already good job buddy

Here's what I came up with. All done with headphones so a few things may sound a little off. |
