Not that new. Post quite a bit but I have a question and I dunno where to put it!

When I send a PM, if I click on a persons name on the forum and it goes to their profile and then I pm them from there does it appear in the PM box in the forum?

I ask because the sent messages aren't there and it's confusing me.

Thanks!

hey guys I'm a new member and I'm looking for some advice

idk what the routine here is but here's some background:
I grew up playing piano until 6th grade, then in middle school I switched to the saxophone and joined the school band but to be honest I just did not connect with the people in there and ended my playing after a year.
fast forward to now, and I'm 21 and realizing how bad i miss music, and went out and bought a guitar.

So based on my history I understand basic music theory and can read music. Where would you guys start? I want to learn without having to pay for lessons, which I know is possible via the internet.

So basically which resources do you guys recommend? are they the ones found here on this site?

Thanks a lot for any guidance you guys can give.

-Scott

Hi all , my name is Martin and I am from Argentina. I have been playing guitar for a couple of months and have joined the site to learn more about the instruments.

My main interests in music are jazz , bossa nova and prog rock. I would really like to play jazz standards in a decent fashion but I know it's a tough ordeal so it's a long way to go I suppose.

Question

I am extremely new with the guitar but have not had motivation to play since recently. I stubled across this site and was impressed with the amount of tabs and forum posts it had so I know it's a good community.

Here is one question maybe some can help with. I have an acoustic but I'm searching for an electric. What would be a decent priced model that has good quality?

^^^ reading tabs is very easy, notice how there are 6 lines in the tablature, and 6 strings on your guitar? The numbers on the tab tell you which fret to hit. when the numbers are stacked onto each other it means its a chord of some sort, you hit all those notes at the same time. The thing about tabs is they don't tell you the note duration, if you want to know that then you gotta read sheet music (or download guitarpro)
