That sounds incredibly risky. I wouldn't try it.

This.

I personally love11s (at least, 11-52s). In fact, on my 2nd electric, for awhile I had 13s (13-60). You do need to build up finger strength and grow better callouses is all, TS.

I don't even know what size strings are on my guitar. They're just whatever came with my Schecter :/

Why not use light-top heavy bottoms? You get the thickness and tone out of the lower strings and the higher strings remain around the size of 10s. Pretty much eliminates all difficulty that comes with bending thicker gauge.

I use 12s on my acoustics and light-top heavy bottoms on my electrics. I've used 11's before and while you think bending won't be a problem while practicing, once you get into fast Jimmy Page-esque where you're bending 16th notes up in the middle of phrases, it becomes next to impossible. Not to mention if you run into 2 step or 2 1/2 step bends. You're pretty much out of luck

If you build up your finger strength enough (like I and many others have), then it doesn't become a problem at all. In fact, it makes you a better guitar player overall, because greater finger strength can allow you to do many techniques with greater ease (as you won't need to build up strength as much). Yes, for about a month, you may issues, but if you practice more than 5 minutes a week, then you'll be fine after that month.

I went from 9s to 12s once, terrible idea. I've worked my way back to 9s since then.

Nah. Play pedal steel guitar with fingers instead of a slide.

Yup, nothing quite like going from 09s to 13s with a string height of 1 1/2"+.

I put .13s on my archtop after regularly playing .9s get on my level.

Anyways, yeah, they'll get used to it. Your fingers probably need a couple of weeks to get adjusted fully.

what you should really worry about is the damage that 11s will do to your amp.

You'll probably want to get a new one.

Record yourself playing with distortion with 9s and then 11s.

Note how it sounds exactly the same. Except now all your bends are flat and you have a higher chance of injury.
