Options other than a strat?

Hey I am in the market for my second guitar, and I was hoping for some suggestions. I have already been looking at an American Standard Strat, either used or new, or a mexi strat and upgrading it, but I was hoping to get some other suggestions.

I play through a fender super champ xd and I mostly play blues, classic rock, and indie alt chillish i really dont know how to describe it softish rock.

- No floyd rose trem, only vintage style or fixed bridge
- My schecter c-1+ already has two humbuckers, so something a little more tonally versatile than that.
- Budget is around 1000 usd

and, is it worth it to just get the american std strat or to buy the mexi strat and upgrade?

How about either;

A: An American Telecaster

or

B: An Epiphone Casino

Both have a fixed bridge, neither are HH so more tonal variety, and both Imho Kick Ass

Epi les paul, u can get really good ones for around 1000, or maybe u can find a cheaper gibson one somewhere, though there HH their pretty versatile, also i think u can get a washburn idol with coil splitting capability, not too sure on that tho

I am a little apprehensive about getting a hollow body because I am essentially buying a guitar to replace my schecter as my main guitar, and I dont see a hollow body being practical as my everything guitar

if you're looking to replace your schecter, how about an ibanez RGA prestige? fixed bridge, double humbuckers

to SPBY: Because I am going to keep the schecter, so I don't want to get a guitar that sounds similar to it.

To KeMiKal: fair enough, I would need to get a new case, I would rather be taking a solid body around and having that get all nicked and scratched instead of a beautiful hollow body and I am going to college next year, so I think a solid body will withstand any possible idiot moves by a roomate/travelng and such

for what you play, i'd say a strat would be an amazing guitar. who needs other options?

Both of my main guitars are hollowbodies or semihollow. Semihollow is very practical as a main guitar because they are more resistant to feedback, have a great warm, open tone to them. Its hard to explain the complexity of a hollowbody without playing ALOT of them.

More importantly, for what you want, I would suggest a Telecaster. Whether you choose American or Mexican, play the hell out of it, even suggest a rental of it to take it home and play on your own gear. Fender guitars are hit or miss, most Americans are passable - good, Mexicans can go from abysmal - great.

Hell, I once accidently found an incredibly resonant Squier in a shop once, with some electronics upgrades would have sounded as good or better than the average American.

You could get a Xaviere guitar (Guitar Fetish's brand) A Hallmark guitar (And hallmarks are really raved about) Or even a cheap guitar that talks to you that you can upgrade.

www.hallmarkguitars.com

http://store.guitarfetish.com/

I recommend Hallmark's guitars, I hear they are really fantastic right out of the box and they have models under $1,000. They all come with hardshell cases too. And the pickups are hot.

Since my Epiphone broke I have been using a full-hollowbody as my main guitar (For about a year now) As beautiful as it is, I know in a few years time it will look ten times better with wear. As for durability, I don't think there is much difference, my Tokai has taken a few knocks and has been taken around the school many a time and is still holding up strong so I don't think that is something you would need to worry about.

As for the case, might just be me but I would have a case for every guitar I have, instead of swapping and changing.

TLDR: Durability isn't an option, Get a deal on a case

Alright you have convinced me, I will open up my scope to looking at some hollowbodies next time I go to that large national chain store that sells a lot of guitars cause there aren't any good guitar shops around where i live.

Have you considered a HSS Stratocaster yet?

Yeah, but with my favorite players being Clapton, SRV, and more recently Mayer, I would get a SSS Strat if I were to get one
