Wow, that was pretty well done. Everything flowed well and sounded like a modern tech death band mixed with a melodic metalcore band. I also enjoyed how they placed the breakdown perfectly in the song and then, almost seamlessly, built the song back up from it.

I found that good enough to download their free EP. (See their facebook page; link on Youtube.)

Yeah, these guys are extremely talented and I can see them making a big name for themselves. The song structuring and dynamics are definitely above the average deathcore band, and the more sparing use of breakdowns just makes it that much more immense when that meshuggah ish riff kicks in. I'd like to see more bands write like this rather than squeeze as many knuckle headed beatdown chug riffs possible into one song.

I realize this thread is essentially dead, but our friend's band just put out their album and he's a social networking savant so it features guest parts by dudes from a bunch of bands like Ovid's Withering and I think it was produced by a guitarist in another band that you've probably heard of.

Way too lazy to do research.

Anyway, here's a link: http://lorelei-nc.bandcamp.com/

It's really solid. It occasionally gets too cheesy for my tastes with the horror themes but still really good for a band featuring dudes I actually know.

I saw that album leak on one of the sites I follow xD

I won't download the leak though. If I want it I'll buy it. IF I want it.

And now Slice the Cake are on the same label as Ovid's Withering and Lorelei, and we couldn't be happier!

Anyone hear the new Carnifex yet? I like it a lot. Probably their best yet up there with The Diseased & The Poisoned. Hope they play Mayhem Festival this year.

Awesome! Congrats, man.

Hope to be able to buy some of your full length albums in the near-ish future then.

Late reply but I did actually rather enjoy the new Carnifex, though it would of been even better if they'd more fully embraced the death metal stuff that's become part of their sound.
