vintage/old yamaha's

if i can pick up a 1973 fg 160 for 100-150 bucks should i do it? my old guitar teacher said that the old yamaha's sound really good and are surprisingly well built for their price. plus i wouldn't feel bad about turning this into a sort of beater guitar ie: taking it to the beach, camping, on hikes and other "college like" activities.

there is also a 1977 fg 351SB for 300 bucks which i am considering also.
