Line 6 spider 15

I hate this amp so much i have virtually stopped playing. I hate it so much it makes me angry with music! I bought it on a budget for a practice amp for home. I play a strat and maverick F1 which i have also fallen out of love with probably due to the gash amp!

So ive made the decision its time to clear out and start a fresh before my blood pressure gets so high i either burst a blood vessel or my head explodes! so before I waste more money i figured id ask you lot whats the best amp guitar combo for my genre of music. Im your typical bed room guitarist, occasionally play in my local ( once in a blue moon ) Im seriously considering ditching an amp altogether and playing though garage band on the mac book!

My styles is a bit of everything really, from bad company, gary moore, to alter bridge, incubus, blues, rock, some heavier stuff occasionally.

So im thinking along the lines of a gibson / PRS with......???

And has anyone bought second hand of Ebay? if so thoughts?

Look forward to your thoughts on this im off to BBQ a line 6 amp!

Just take your guitar to a local shop and play it though some quality amps before you do anything rash, like spend money on another guitar you may not really want.

Nothing wrong with Garageband for practice though, as long as you don't spend more time tweaking it than playing...

What ...(Insert Gear?)... Threads

(what you should include to get good advice)

Budget? - What is practical for you and what is your limit?

Genres? - What style do you play mostly, fav guitarists, do you need cleans, etc?

New or Used? - Lots of great amps out there used, especially in a down economy.

Home or Gig? - Also important. Maybe you do both. Jamming with a drummer can be considered 'gigging' but you won't have a PA etc.

Closest City? - We aren't here to stalk you but we need to know where you are in the world roughly and we can help further if we know what city you are in (ie craigslist, local shops, Guitar Center used section, etc)

Current Gear? - Also good for us to know.

Paragraphs of information about yourself are nice but we really just need the answers to these 6 things.

think i nailed genres. and new or used buy asking about ebay... plus home or gig... current gear too, its not an Alcoholics Anonymous forum... i covered most of it bar budget i guess.

But anyway here goes...

My Names Kev, i like air guitar and prancing around the house in my boxers and sliding on my knees while jamming.

Seriously though,

Budget, £800-£1000
Genres, Alter bridge, i love mark and myles tone. that blues rock tone that gary moore and joe bonamassa do so well. so from one end of the spectrum to the other i guess!
new or used...ill look into both.
will be mainly for home.
Oxford. uk is my closest city.
Current gear... that dam line 6 amp. fender strat maverick F1.
hope this helps. i play for myself.. (not with myself!) occasionally with play with my brother (that sounds worse) or at the local play i may play in public (this is just not right)

cheers guys

Kev

Is the budget all for the amp? You were mentioning a new guitar as well (I think), just trying to get a good feel of what you have to work with.
