Not Sure Where to Go With This Riff GP6 C4C
Hi UGers,
This is just a riff I recently came up with, which is quite fast but simultaneously chilled out. I've got a bridge part in there as well as some variations on the riff, but otherwise I'm a bit stuck. Would much appreciate any suggestions on how to proceed from this stage of songwriting, as well as general criticism of my composition itself. Will give criticism in exchange for criticism. Thanks!

Import it to another file type (gp5, gp4) and then we'd be able to crit it.

Quite an interesting piece. all i could say is add a solo. or another part with a strong melody. it sounds nice though

pretty simple, nice riff
but for me it's somekind of repetitive, try to give a little twist to the riff. and for bar 10 to 13, try to add some more variation and notes, IMO that part is pretty boring...

Do you think a key change would help, or is the piece too short, as it stands?

You have a build up of tension working towards bar 13. Instead of repeating that main riff go into something big, that seems like a logical progression. Repeating the main riff again just gets too repetitive.

Obviously the main riff will be the returning point of the song if it goes further but it does need a variation of some sort. I also think an extra guitar or something will do wonders for this especially at the 10th bar. Even introduce it there.
Apart from that I can't say much more except I like the riff. Nice and original. C4C? http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/foru...d.php?t=1572547 |
